I Want This

I can forgive the label, “Smartbook”, since it’s reportedly so cheap. A $200 tablet? I’ve been waiting for something like this before I ever bought a mobile PC again. From PCWorld: Next to the 512MB of RAM, up to 64GB of internal storage (microSD expansion) and a 1GHz processor, Freescale’s smartbook tablet features a potentially killer spec: [...]

Updating WordPress

It wouldn’t be so tedious, if they would make things consistent. Well, maybe not consistent, but in-line with what I want. First, when I have to update Wordpress itself, I’m presented with a prompt to update on the control panel. There are two options, “Upgrade Automatically”, which I can’t use since I don’t like setting all [...]

Normaliz.dll Missing

So, I have one day to get this computer up-to-date, and I’m uninstalling all the junk that’s on it: Old Symantec Endpoint Protection* Old Firefox Tons of suspicious software A few old JREs IE7 Beta 2 Now, I also reduced the size of System Restore as well. However, I might have been a little too bold. Removing the IE7 Beta also [...]

Signal Strength: High, No, Wait Loooowww

I was studying some maths while downloading OpenOffice updates, and I noticed that Windows was a little confused as to what the signal strength of the wireless here was. Click to enlarge and see what I’m talking about. Yes, I did mspaint it, but just to get both tooltips to display at the same time. No, [...]

100th Post! (…and Megasquirt Woes)

Hum, 100 posts. 100 posts about random crap, but 100 nonetheless. Speaking of random, I was (am) attempting to make my own version of the MegaLogViewer for Megasquirt. In this attempt, I happened to notice that my Z31 cranks at 280-325 or so RPM. This is not a big deal, it’s just that I have my [...]

How Do You People Manage to Breathe?

Today was the first day of three that some 20 groups are going to present on some topic in Geology. We have a 50 minute class, the presentations are “supposed” to be at least 10 minutes, so in theory 5 presentations per class period, 15 presentations total. Not nearly enough time. However, he wants some [...]

WackoWiki Lives Up To It’s Name

I wanted a PHP/MySQL Wiki to use for my car site, and I crossed upon some crazy Russian made one called “WackoWiki”. I just installed WackoWiki try it out. I was quickly surprised to realize that after editing the main page once, every subsequent visit would log me out. It was very annoying. Then, after [...]

Hosting Maintenance

Apparently my site host decided to schedule maintenance just over the last hour. Interesting. Now all the masses are scared off, and my profits are plummeting! I need a bail out!

People still use AOL?

We dropped that shit back in the 20th century. Get with the program people, AOL sucks. It sucked when it came out, and it’s been going down hill ever since then. The only thing AOL has done good is throw around thousands of CDs whose sole function was to keep my desk free from condensation [...]

Fast Times at Arlington High

Pulling a cool 3.6 MB/s at work, during peak hours… I’m downloading the Windows Automated Installation Kit, to try and deploy a test Windows 7 image on a guinea pig in my office. I have Win7 at home, and I actually like it. Hopefully, the mult-user, domain side of 7 doesn’t suck.
