UN to World: “Don’t make fun of religion”
Idiots. In Richard Dawkins’ God Delusion, Dawkins makes a point about the ability to criticize religion. He mentions that, even in free countries like the US, sometimes making fun of someone’s religion is a quick way to get your ass beat. He questions why this is still so? Why does religion have this “lofty status” as something that no one can challenge?
I shouldn’t have to mention that not being able to challenge someone’s religion is critical to any culture that wants to label themselves “free”.
See the link.
So, basically, a bunch of Islamic countries got together and thought that their religion was being treated unfairly. So, doing what Islamic states do best, they tried to pass laws restricting what people can do.
But then again, it’s just a resolution. And further, it’s just the UN. It doesn’t really mean anything. Stupid.
